A SERIES of 'happy accidents' brought conceptual artist Ashley Lloyd to his current space.

An exhibition of his work, along with that of other artists in the Herefordshire-based group Lying Cheetahs, can be seen filling The Courtyard atrium.

'Got art and not afraid to use it' is how the group has been described by a critic - so prepare to feel slightly overwhelmed when the doors open and the colourful collective is revealed. Most eye-catching, inevitably, is Ashley's controversial 'love chair'.

The subject of much lowered-tone discussion, the chair is said to be the facilitator for 42 love-making positions, and has won the artist international acclaim since its creation last year.

It's £260,000 price tag puts it in the sphere of gallery spaces such as the Saatchi and White Cube in London, but you can see it here.

Courtyard chief executive, Martyn Green said: "It's fabulous to see this space used like this...just evolving. It really demonstrates that this is an arts centre. People are hit by art as soon as they walk through the door".

The bedside lamps next to the 'sun bed' installation by furniture artist Tim Hawkins are left on through the night, encouraging people passing the venue to think of the place as a 24-hour venue.

"It's fabulous that it's brought the space alive and got people talking," Martyn said.
