I fully agree with the letter (Hereford Times, May 13) deploring the bad language of Gordon Ramsay on TV.

Figures for complaints about bad language, published by the Broadcasting Standards Commission and the BBC last year, show a huge number of others are also very upset.

Even if it improves ratings for the broadcasters, is it right to expose the public to so much offensive language? Shouldn't we be more concerned about what this is teaching all the children and young people who will undoubtedly be watching, despite the warnings?

Why encourage even more aggression? I have four children I want to protect from the media. Four years ago I founded a peaceful march of protest with another mother of three.

Ordinary people need to rise up! The broadcasters aren't listening; can you help us make the government listen?

Please sign and distribute our petition which has over 120,000 signatures urging the government to regulate the media properly, and join our next march in Manchester on Saturday October 16, 2004.
