THE fleece was flying at a Bromyard wool merchant's open day on Tuesday.

Francis Willey opened up its wool-grading depot on the Porthouse Industrial Estate for producers to see what happens to their fleeces and to find out how wool is graded.

Shearing and mobile sheep shower demonstrations, displays of antique shearing equipment, information on various popular breeds and an 'identify the fleece' competition were all on offer.

Members of the British Wool Marketing Board and staff members were also on hand for producers to meet.
