WHAT'S good enough for the nation's pampered pooches is good enough for Herefordshire's canine competitors as St Michael's Hospice prepares to launch a dog show to rival Crufts!

With three months until the big event on June 18, there's plenty of time to train, groom and prettify your pet. There will be five pedigree classes for puppies and dogs over six months and 11 novelty classes, including 'prettiest bitch' and 'dog the judges would most like to take home'. There's even a final class for 'anyone who hasn't won a prize on the day'.

Entry fees are £1.50 per dog per class, or £5 for five entries, with judging of pedigree classes starting at 12 noon, and novelty classes from 1pm. Sponsors of the show include Specsavers of Hereford, Arrowfield Veterinary Group and Dogsbody Petstore. The judge for the day will be Mrs Maggie Mullins of Athelwood.
