WHEN Mike Harris lost his 47-year-old wife Lin to breast cancer a year ago, he determined that she would never be forgotten and set about fundraising in her memory.

Mike, from Hay-on-Wye, is now planning to follow last year's successful dance at which he and fellow band members Cost a Living played, with a repeat performance at Summerhill Golf Club from 8 till late on April 16, with a golf day, also at Summerhill, planned for September 23.

Last year the two events raised more than £4,000, split between Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Relief, St Michael's Hospice, Usk House Day Hospice in Brecon, Char-les Renton Unit and 'Focus' Cheltenham Oncology Unit.

Proceeds from this year's events will go to the same places, all of which provided support to Lin and her family during the nine years of her illness. Accompanied by daughter Denise, the youngest of her three children, Lin became one of the faces of Macmillan's 'Voice for Life' campaign.

"I believe she was an inspiration to so many with the way she coped with everything the disease threw at her," says Mike.
