WEOBLEY children have been getting active despite the gloomy summer.

The youngsters learned pottery skills, basic dance steps and how to act in drama classes.

They have also been on trips to the Taste for Adventure centre at Credenhill and Bodenham Lake as part of the Weobley Extended Schools programme.

The project was put together following a successful application to Sport England and the Arts Council. Children from Canon Pyon, Credenhill, Dilwyn and Staunton joined Weobley pupils to learn new tricks.

Jane Denny, extended schools co-ordinator for the Weobley Cluster of Schools, said: “The programme has helped to keep young people occupied in this very wet summer during the long holiday in a very rural area. It also enabled them to learn a lot of new skills while having fun which is the most important thing.”
