YOUNG farmers representing 11 YFC clubs in Herefordshire will be demonstrating their hedgelaying skills at the annual County Hedging Match on Sunday.
This year’s match is moving to Upper Wall End Farm, Monkland, near Leominster.
Competitors taking part will be required to stake, pleach and heather a length of hedge.
Young people will get the chance to learn a valuable and traditional countryside skill and put their craft to the test in a popular annual YFC competition which has been running since 1948.
There are classes for individuals or for a team of two working together.
The Agricultural Valuers’ Association Trophy will be awarded to the club gaining the highest marks in all classes.
Hedging starts at 9am and admission is free.
