LEOMINSTER’S east-west bypass is back on the table with a big meeting tomorrow (Friday) to see how far it can go.
A delegation from Leominster Town Council will pitch the road as a priority for Herefordshire Council’s transport plans saying the three-four mile route from the A44 (Monkland Road) at Baron’s Cross to the B4361 (Hereford Road) could be built for around £9 million.
“That’s cheap and realistic in terms of infrastructural investment, especially when central government is keen on such projects to kick-start the economy,” said Councillor Richard Westwood, Leominster’s Deputy Mayor.
It is the town council’s case that the hard work has already been done with the building of a related railway bridge by the old Leominster District Council.
