VISITORS to a county park are being given the chance to get to the root of its historic trees.
Bookings are being taken for the Autumn Tree Colour Walk around Croft Castle & Parkland on Sunday (October 19).
Warden Pete Johnson will lead the walk, which will take in veteran trees such as the 1,000-year-old quarry oak - believed to be the oldest sessile oak in Britain.
The walk starts at 2pm and lasts about two hours. It costs £2.50 for adults, £1.25 for children, and pre-booking is essential. Call 01568 780246.
