With a small cohort, Lucton School has again this year, shown an improvement in the A2 results, with Year 13 students achieving 100% passes, with 60% A/B results and 80% A/C results.

Lucton’s Headmistress, Mrs Gill Thorne, is delighted with the progress of the sixth form. “The AS results from our much larger lower sixth also show promise. We have two extraordinary Year 13 performances this year; one who not only achieved three A2 subjects this year, but also passed a further three AS subjects!

another gained an ‘A’ at art A2, when he hadn’t even intended to take this subject on arrival into our sixth form!

GCSE results bounce back Year 11 at Lucton School has achieved 75% 5 A* to C grades, a considerable jump up on last year and this again represents an exceptional result for a mixed ability school. More importantly, the KS3 to KS4 value added calculations prove that Lucton teachers have had yet another good year. Very few schools, locally or nationally, demonstrate Lucton’s consistent valueadded performance in recent years. Apart from the strong Year 11 GCSE performance a promising Year 10 student, who took four subjects a year early, has achieved an A* in every one of them! Nearly 60% of this year’s candidates achieved at least one A or A* grade and Mrs Gill Thorne is very pleased. “I am so happy with the way every year’s results bring out a number of exceptional personal achievements.

These personal triumphs demonstrate the quality of the teaching at Lucton.”

classes.” (A record number of this Year 11 stayed on in Lucton’s Sixth Form!)
When Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex, visited Lucton School last term, as the main event in the celebration of the 300th Anniversary of the school’s founding, he agreed to name the new swimming pool ‘The Wessex Pool’.

The pool is not only making a huge impact on the enjoyment of Lucton’s day and boarding students, but is also being well used by a number of local schools and swimming clubs. Future tercentenary events include a Thanksgiving Service at the Priory in Leominster at 11am on the 15th November.
