COUNTY researchers who want to delve into the past are being offered the chance to visit the National Archives in London.
Herefordshire Archive service is organising a coach trip to the country’s leading archive in Kew on Thursday, September 18.
The National Archives hold items of international importance such as the Domesday Book as well as many documents which are useful for researching family or local history.
Senior Archivist, Rhys Griffith, said: “It may seem surprising, but a great deal of Herefordshire’s history is locked up in Kew.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to explore new sources there.”
Passengers will be dropped off right outside the building, which is a few minutes walk from the Royal Botanical Gardens.
The coach will leave the car park at Herefordshire Record Office in Harold Street at 7am on September 18 and will stop at Ledbury to collect additional passengers at 7.30am.
The coach will leave Kew at 5pm and the trip costs £17 per person with a £10 deposit.
