HEREFORDSHIRE Youth Council will be raising funds for local causes and holding an activity day for county youngsters, this weekend.

Fifteen youngsters will be abseiling down St Peter’s Church in Hereford High Town on Saturday, (August 30) in aid of the MacMillan Renton Appeal.

The abseil will follow a walk by three members of the youth parliament from Ross Market Place to Hereford High Town.

Rebecca Howson, deputy member of the Youth Parliament, Tom Reddock, member of Herefordshire Youth Council and Ross Higgins, Chair of Herefordshire Youth Council, will set off at 6am to raise money for the UK Youth Parliament Regional Campaign: See Good Under The Hood.

The campaign aims to get a fair and accurate representation of youths in the media and the trio will be raising money for a film competition for youngsters in the West Midlands.

Following the abseil the Youth Council will hold a fun day from 2pm until 5pm on the Castle Green, and activities include giant twister, a climbing wall and a tug of war.

The Youth Council are supported by the Play Partnership and the Youth Opportunity Fund.
