A new "self-serve" dog grooming facility is to open in Hereford, to provide hassle-free grooming services.
Herefordshire council has announced that it has partnered with a local firm, Lucky Mutt to create the self-serve dog washing and specialist dog grooming facility at Widemarsh Common, Hereford.
Lucky Mutt is a Hereford-born business dedicated to providing hassle-free, high-quality dog grooming services through innovative, community-focused facilities. Working in partnership with local councils and businesses, Lucky Mutt aims to transform disused public spaces into vibrant hubs for dog owners while promoting sustainability and supporting the local economy.
Opening early next year, the unique facility will transform the former public conveniences on Widemarsh Common into a space for dog owners to freshen up their beloved pets in a self-service wash facility, alongside professional dog grooming services for dogs of all breeds and sizes.
The fully-equipped grooming facility will be available for short-term bookings by local pet grooming professionals to support their customers' needs. This flexible option eliminates the need for costly leases or equipment, providing an accessible, ready-to-use space that empowers local pet care entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and serve the local community with ease.
Councillor Harry Bramer, cabinet member of community services and assets, said that the council is "delighted" to be delivering the community-focused initiative.
"It is often said that Britain is a nation of dog lovers, and Herefordshire is no different. This facility will transform a currently disused public space, providing a service for the community that will benefit residents and visitors.”
Cian O'Sullivan, founder of Lucky Mutt said that the team is "incredibly proud" to be working alongside the council to bring the project to life.
“This initiative is not just about providing high-quality dog grooming services, but about breathing new life into underutilised spaces, enhancing the local area, and delivering a community-focused service that makes a difference.”
