A DRUG-DRIVER has been handed a ban and a fine after he was caught over the limit twice in just two weeks.

Thomas Burroughs entered guilty pleas to four counts of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the limit, one count of using a vehicle with tyres with insufficient tread and one count of using a vehicle without insurance.

The court heard from prosecutor Camila Toscano that the 28-year-old had been caught behind the wheel of a silver VW Polo in Moreland Avenue, Hereford, while over the drug-drive limit on May 23. He was then caught again in Hampton Park Road two weeks later.

The first time he was caught, an evidential blood test revealed he had 65 microgrammes (mg) of cocaine and 800 mg of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood. The second time, he had 32 mg of cocaine and 800 mg of benzoylecgonine in his blood.

The legal driving limits for these drugs are 10 and 50 mg respectively.

Burroughs, of Foxwhelp Close, Hereford, was fined £300 for each of the drug-driving offences and disqualified from driving for 38 months by magistrates in Hereford.
