FIREFIGHTERS were called out to reports of smoke in a Hereford street this morning (September 20), as a fire blazed under a bridge.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to Newtown Road just after 6.30am this morning.

They confirmed that the fire measured around three metres by one metre and was under a bridge. A crew extinguished the blaze within 45 minutes.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "A HWFRS crew from Hereford was called at 6.40am on September 20 to smoke in the area of Newtown Road, Hereford. A fire measuring around three metres by one metre under a bridge was extinguished using one hose reel jet. There were no casualties and no other emergency services were required."
Firefighters left the scene at 7.22am, with the incident marked by the service as "pending closure" and the fire having been extinguished by the Hereford crew.
