A TEENAGER has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds after failing to show his ticket on a train from Hereford to Cardiff.
David Winser was proven guilty in his absence of one count of failing to hand over a valid ticket, not in a designated compulsory ticket area, by magistrates at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court this month.

The court heard that the 19-year-old, who did not attend the hearing, had failed to hand over a ticket for inspection and verification of validity when he was on a train from Hereford to Cardiff Central on May 10, contrary to railway byelaw.
Winser, who is of Chapel Wood in Llanedeyrn, was fined £220 for the offence and ordered to pay compensation of £28.30 for the cost of the ticket.
He must also pay prosecution costs of £100 and an £88 victim surcharge which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
