I was interested to read your recent post regarding the major roadworks (online: Months of disruption to start on the A49 in Hereford, September 4).
You state that the road goes around Hereford suggesting that it is a ring road. Nothing could be further from the truth. The A49 runs straight through Hereford.
What are your thoughts?

If you were stand at the top of Edgar Street you would see how many vehicles travel along the busy road and junction. Only recently there was gridlock when a bus broke down on the Tesco roundabout.
I think that as the A49 is the only so-called trunk road in Hereford and the only road maintained by the highways authority it is probably the best maintained road in Herefordshire, compared with the A4103 which has been badly neglected by the Hereford Council for over ten years.
