POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit by a lorry in Herefordshire.
A 49-year-old man left his vehicle at the side of the dual carriageway in Whitchurch, near Ross-on-Wye, before crossing the road, and was hit by a lorry. He was pronounced dead at the scene as bystanders tried to care for him.

In an appeal for witnesses, a police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a collision in Herefordshire on September 4.
"The collision occurred at around 5.49pm on the A40 from Pencraig to Goodrich, involving an HGV and a pedestrian. A 49-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, is urged to contact PC 21777 Foster by emailing nathan.foster@westmercia.police.uk or by calling 07970 544893 quoting incident 00343_I_04092024.
