A HOMELESS thief has admitted stealing a £100 jumper from a Hereford shop.
Jamie Lewis stole the jumper from Sports Direct in Hereford on June 8.
The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, admitted one count of theft from a shop when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford on August 14.
Magistrates handed him a 12-month community order and said that although Lewis had been subject to a suspended prison sentence, it would be “unjust” to activate the sentence because it was a “dissimilar offence”.

As part of the community order, Lewis must attend up to 30 days of rehabilitation appointments. These will consist of rehabilitation activities and will be with a responsible probation officer or someone else nominated by them. Lewis must comply with the instructions of the officer.
Lewis must pay compensation of £100 to Sports Direct and a fine of £50.
He must also pay prosecution costs of £85.
