A POLICE officer has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

Police say the incident was in Hereford on July 23 last year.

Evan Jones, 22, was charged with grievous bodily harm without intent and is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court today (August 14).

He is a response police constable working in Herefordshire, and was off duty at the time of the incident in Hereford last July.

He is alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm without intent in Hereford.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Evan Jones, 22, has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm without intent and is due in court today.

"The charge relates to an incident which took place on July 23, 2023, when he was off duty in Hereford.

"Jones, who is a response police constable in Hereford, is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court."

Police have not given any further information about the nature of the incident, and the court case is ongoing.
