WITH reference to the letter from Graham Church (Letters, November 9), the only litter seen collected around Kimbolton is by valiant volunteers.

The road repairs, when actually executed, last six months at best. They surface strips of road, then the bits left go duff the following winter.

Many years ago, councils had their own work force, under supervision of professional county engineers. They controlled the work and budget.

You can send a letter to the editor to have your say by clicking here.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.

Traffic closures and restrictions should be limited and work carried out to a strict schedule, if contractor goes over time there is a fine. Plus road gangs should only put up lights and signs when actually working!

Not day or two before and after.

Ratepayers are paying for inadequate and incompetent highways works.
