IN six years I have witnessed Herefordshire getting tidier and more litter-free.

In this time I have taken part in many litter-picking exercises and street cleaning in my village.

Not once have I ever seen Balfour Beatty cleaning our streets or picking up litter (Herefordshire’s streets and parks deal ‘not good enough’, November 1).

What are your thoughts?

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.

That Balfour Beatty reduced their litter wardens from 30 to 12 at the start of their contract says it all. They are also responsible for underworking traffic light restrictions which means they get paid more for longer lengths of ‘maintenance’.

I believe their main priority is their profits and shareholders.

Please point to one single improvement they have achieved in this county in the last six years?
