I refer to the letter by Alan Wheatley that a Hereford bypass is an illusion (Letters, July 27).
What seems missing from the whole debate is that for those of us living on or hear the A49 a Hereford bypass would be a disaster.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
Regardless of the cost and emissions caused by the road, it is the current lack of a bypass that discourages truck drivers from using the A49 between north and south Wales.

If the bypass was ever to be built it would quickly become an ‘M5 Relief Road’ bringing purgatory to communities in Herefordshire and Shropshire.
I don’t remember the Conservatives’ ‘newspaper’ revealing their position on this.
Perhaps they and their MP election candidates should tell us now.
