POLICE and an ambulance were called to the M50 as several drivers reported a man walking along the carriageway.

The man was spotted by drivers between junctions 3 and 4 on the M50 Westbound at around 1.30pm on Sunday August 13.

The police said that officers found the man and accompanied him to Hereford County Hospital for medical attention, having received several calls from concerned members of the public.

The ambulance service confirmed that a call was made with concerns for the man's welfare, and that a paramedic officer treated him for minor injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

West Mercia Police posted a Tweet at 1.45pm asking the public to avoid the area and find an alternative route while they attended the scene. Traffic monitoring site INRIX reported that traffic was held very briefly at 1.50pm. All lanes were re-open by around 2.15pm.
