THREE crashes in Herefordshire, the most severe being on the M50, left traffic building up as emergency services responded.

The M50 Westbound was partially blocked following a crash near the Travellers Rest roundabout in Ross-on-Wye. Drivers sat in 10-minute queues, with vehicles able to slowly pass the incident via the hard shoulder.

Police, traffic officers and the ambulance service attended the scene

Earlier this evening, two other crashes happened within just a few miles of each other on the Hereford to Ledbury road, the A438. 

According to traffic monitoring site INRIX, there was a crash near the Trumpet Inn, affecting traffic between Lower Eggleton and Preston Cross, as well as a crash at Stoke Edith near the Yarkhill turning, affecting traffic between Dormington and Tarrington.

The Hereford Times understands that the A438 was clear at around 6pm, with traffic easing on the M50 at around half an hour later, when emergency services left the scene.
