The court heard from prosecutor Eleanor Peart that the 31-year-old had assaulted a woman in Ross-on-Wye on June 24.
He had also, without lawful excuse, intentionally or recklessly destroyed a mobile phone and a window belonging to the same woman, causing around £600 worth of damage, on the same date.
Pickersgill, of Honeysuckle Close, Ross-on-Wye, was handed an 18-month community order and must undergo a six-month alcohol treatment programme.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135.
