A POPULAR Hereford event has again been cancelled as Storm Antoni hits.

The Hereford Lions Club car boot, a popular event held just off the Roman Road, opposite Bookers cash and carry, has been cancelled today, organisers confirmed this morning (August 5).

The car boot sale usually takes place every Saturday, opening from 7am for booters and 7.45am for buyers, with 100 per cent of donations from the day going to local charities.

"Due to the rain in Herefordshire overnight, we have taken view that the field will be little tricky this morning," organisers said.

"Therefore this weeks Lions Car Boot is cancelled.

"Really sorry to all our regulars, but Storm Antoni is currently affecting parts of the country.

Met Office weather warning issued

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind for parts of western Herefordshire today, with the warning coming into force from 8am and remaining in place until 8pm.

Forecasters said unseasonably windy conditions will hit southern and southwestern areas of England and Wales today as Storm Antoni arrives.

The strongest winds will affect parts of southwest Wales and southwest England, the Met Office said, where gusts could reach 50 to 55 miles per hour inland for a time and perhaps 60 to 65 miles per hour along exposed coastal areas and over high ground.

Later in the afternoon and through the early evening, wind strengths will begin to slowly ease from the west, forecasters said.
