The court heard from prosecutor Owen Beale that 49-year-old thief Butler, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Ryan Khaira, had, acting with another person, stolen a Superdry bag worth £15 from the Cancer Research charity shop in Ross-on-Wye on October 17 last year.
Butler, of Fenton Close, Shrewsbury, was handed a two-year conditional discharge for the offence.
No order was made for prosecution costs or a victim surcharge to be paid.
