A THIEF from Herefordshire will be sentenced next month after stealing a number plate and fuel, and driving without a licence or insurance.
Kevin Gadd entered guilty pleas to one count of theft from a motor vehicle, one count of making off without payment, one count of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without insurance, and one count of driving without a licence when he appeared before magistrates in Reading in July.
The court heard from prosecutor Jennifer Mitchell that the 65-year-old had stolen a number plate from a vehicle in Thatcham, Berkshire, on June 19, and had driven a road in the town's Bath Road without a licence or insurance policy in place on the same date.

He had also made off from a petrol station in Newbury, Berkshire, without paying for fuel and with intent to avoid paying for it on the same date, magistrates were told.
The case was adjourned for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out by the probation service and Gadd, of Broad Street, Bromyard, was released on unconditional bail.
He will appear before magistrates in Hereford for sentencing on August 2.
