ARTISTS will take part in a gallery’s first ever art competition to celebrate the beginning of Ledbury Poetry Festival next month.
Caroline Green, co-owner of the gallery Take 4, said: “With generous prizes it should prove to be a wonderful inclusive celebration to capture this beautiful market town.”
On Sunday July 2, from 9am to 3pm, artists entering Take 4’s competition will be tasked with creating their original take on Ledbury and its surroundings en plein aire, in a medium of their choice.

The competition will be judged by Sir Roy Strong and Sarah Hilary.
Entry costs £20, with a deadline of Friday June 23 to secure one of 100 places in the competition. The entrants must be over 16 and will need to bring their own easels, canvasses and art materials.
Ledbury Poetry Festival hosts its own international poetry competition, which this year will be judged by the poet Philip Gross. The festival will also feature readings of last year’s winning poems.
