Welshpool Town Football Club has successfully obtained grant funding to install solar panels on the roof of its changing rooms.

As well as fitting the panels to the roof, Welshpool Town FC and Juniors will be able to insulate the loft of the building, saving the club money and improving sustainability.

The majority of the grant was awarded by the Cymru Football Foundation with a smaller grant from Community Foundation Wales, as well as the club itself contributing with its own funds.

The solar panels also include battery storage, which the club says will allow them to take advantage of the building's south-facing roof and generate and store its own electricity.

County Times:

The insulation, combined with the solar panels will allow the club to cut down on the building’s energy consumption, saving money and improving sustainability in helping the team reach their green policies as their carbon footprint is reduced.

Club secretary Eva Bredsdorff said: “The club is most grateful to The Cymru Football Foundation and Community Foundation Wales for their generous support of Welshpool Town FC and Juniors and grassroots football in mid-Wales and to Welshpool Town Council for its approval of this important development.”
