FRIENDS and family of a Herefordshire man who died last year remembered him by holding a tractor run.

Dave Reeves, who died last December from bowel cancer, wanted to hold the event and raise money for St Michael's Hospice and Walford Church.

The 53-year-old, from Hom Green, near Ross-on-Wye, even planned the route, which passed through villages and country lanes that his tractor would have travelled through over the years.

In total, 75 tractors took part in the event at Callow Farm in Walford, where they travelled 30 miles, stopping at Old Hall Farm, St Owen's Cross and Treworgan Farm, Llangrove for refreshments. A raffle then took place, with over £6,500 being raised for the charities.

"He had his own business as an agricultural contractor, of which he did for over 30 years," said Tracy Cubberley, a close friend of Mr Reeves.

"His son Lewis has now taken over the business, so as we say ‘the wheels keep turning’.

"We have had a great response from people so have set up a Facebook page ‘Reevesy’s Run’, so people can see information about next year’s run. The original route Dave planned was 60 miles, so the second part will take place next year."

The family and friends of Mr Reeves would like to thank the Drummond family for allowing them to use their land, Tim and Emma Roberts at Old Hall and Helen and Linda Wallis at Treworgan for letting them have the refreshment stops, and the companies who provided donations.
