The court heard from Crown Prosecution Service prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 20-year-old had assaulted two men by beating in an incident in Ledbury, Herefordshire, on March 23.
McCarthy, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Marilena Di Vitantonio, and who is of Commercial Road in Hereford, was handed a 12-month community order and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work for the offences, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty pleas into account when imposing the penalty.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £114 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
