A HEREFORDSHIRE woman shared sweets with American pop superstar Katy Perry at King Charles III's coronation at Westminster Abbey, not realising who she was.

Sally Robertson was invited to last Saturday's event in London after receiving a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her community work in Burghill and Lyde.

The former Herefordshire councillor had a great view of the service, sitting behind A-list celebrities such as Ms Perry, famous for hit singles such as I Kissed a Girl and Firework.

"I was sharing my sweets with her and chatting not realising it was her until after the event," said Mrs Robinson.

"An added bonus was walking with Ant and Dec from the Abbey to Lambeth Bridge. They are two genuine, funny people."

Mrs Robinson added that the service was very moving.

"Seeing the two crowns being carried on cushions up the aisle in the Abbey in readiness for the crowning ceremony and the actual crowning is something I will always remember," she said.

"It was an honour to be invited, representing my communities."

As well as her 12-year stint with Herefordshire Council, Mrs Robertson also spent time serving her local parish council.

She was also heavily involved with a number of other community projects, including a project to bring a new sports pavilion to the village.

She also helps with the Burghill community library, Burghill in Bloom and in the production of local parish magazines.
