I would strongly endorse the recent letter from Carola Morton (Housebound, April 6).
She rightly pointed out that the new access plan being advanced for Hereford ignores the needs of the disabled.

The new road layout in St Owen’s Street not only cost an ‘eye-watering’ amount of money but, in the process of installing a coloured cycle lane, it also removed important disabled parking places from this, the only, level parking-wheelchair access to High Town.
I do applaud the council’s wish to reduce traffic in the town centre and to encourage walking and cycling. However, this would be better achieved for disabled residents and visitors by dedicating all of the parking places in St Owen Street and Union Street as Blue Badge only.
