AN ACCUSED man has been sent for trial over illegal cigarettes allegations.
Zhiar Majid entered not guilty pleas to three counts of possessing goods with a false trade mark for sale and three counts of supplying a tobacco product not carrying a combined health warning when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March.
The court heard Majid is accused of possessing hundreds of packets of cigarettes, the packaging of which was likely to be mistaken for a registered trade mark, namely 303 packets of Marlboro Gold cigarettes, 30 packets of Marlboro Red cigarettes, 101 packets of Benson and Hedges cigarettes, 368 packets of Richmond King Size cigarettes, 180 packets of Richmond cigarettes, 485 packets of Rothmans cigarettes, and 157 50g packs of Amber Leaf rolling tobacco, with intent to sell them in Hereford on April 9, 2021.

The 23-year-old is also accused of supplying hundreds of packets of cigarettes and rolling tobacco which did not carry a combined health warning, as required by regulations, in Hereford on April 9, 2021.
The case was sent for trial and Majid, of Nelson Street in Coventry, was released on unconditional bail.
He will appear before magistrates in Hereford for trial on July 17.
