A SHOPPER caught out while three times the drug-driving limit has been banned from the roads.

Marcin Sienkiewicz entered a guilty plea to one count of drug-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March.

The court heard from prosecutor Eleanor Peart that Sienkiewicz had been caught behind the wheel of a Renault Laguna after he was stopped in Hereford's Kempton Avenue at 1.40pm on November 22.

Hereford Times:

He was arrested after failing a roadside drug test, and an evidential blood test revealed he had 6.4 microgrammes of controlled class B drug cannabis product delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The legal limit is two microgrammes.

Chris Read, for Sienkiewicz, said that the 29-year-old had been caught in an "entirely routine" stop.

"He had gone to the supermarket and had used cannabis some time before," Mr Read said.

"He did not feel it could impair his driving, and he has no previous matters."

The court heard that Sienkiewicz is in a difficult financial position at present, having lost his part-time job.

Sienkiewicz, who gave a care of address in Hereford, was banned from the roads for 12 months and fined £120. He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £48 victim surcharge.
