A BANNED Herefordshire man has been jailed after flouting a restraining order.

Wesley Worral, of Moreton on Lugg, Herefordshire, admitted one count of harassment by breaching a restraining order when he appeared before magistrates in Blackpool.

A further charge of harassment causing fear of violence was dismissed as no evidence was offered.

Hereford Times:

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 41-year-old had, without reasonable excuse, sent numerous emails and voicemails to a woman in Blackpool between January 7 and 25, which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order imposed by magistrates in Lancashire on December 23.

OTHER NEWS:

He had subject to a suspended sentence order, also imposed by magistrates in Lancashire on December 23 for an offence of harassment causing fear of violence by sending a large number of voicemails and recordings on social media to the same victim, threatening to smash her door in and to kill her, between October 1 and 16.

Hereford Times:

Magistrates said the offence was serious as Worral has a flagrant disregard for court orders, had breached a protective order days after it was imposed, and as it was a persistent breach that had caused fear and distress to the victim.

The suspended sentence of 36 weeks was implemented as a prison sentence of 26 weeks, with Worral also handed a further 16 weeks in prison for the new offence, bringing his total sentence to 42 weeks.

The restraining order was varied and will now be in force indefinitely.
