AN 'INCOHERENT' drunken man was arrested after he was found stumbling in the road in Hereford.

Aidan Thomas Bufton entered a guilty plea to one count of drunk and disorderly behaviour when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March.

Police became aware of Bufton after they saw cars swerving and stopping in Hereford's Commercial Road at 7.20pm on February 15, prosecutor Mark Hambling told the court.

Hereford Times:

Bufton, who was unsteady, stumbling, and incoherent, was in the road, the court heard.

He was arrested after he was uncooperative with officers and refused to give his name.

OTHER NEWS:

"The decision to prosecute was taken partially because of his previous convictions," Mr Hambling said.

Speaking on his own behalf, Bufton said he just wanted to apologise for his behaviour.

"I was going through a bit of a bad time," he said.

"I am reliant on alcohol and I am getting help and support to get off it. I just had a bit of a breakdown at the time."

Hereford Times:

The court heard from a support worker that Bufton is currently seeing his GP with regards to undiagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Bufton, of Roman Road, Hereford, was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £16 victim surcharge.

No order was made for prosecution costs due to his lack of means.
