A ROAD in rural Herefordshire will be closed for six days as work is carried out to install fibre internet cables in the area.

The B4362 from Presteigne Road to Covenhope Lane, Shobdon, near Leominster, will be closed for six days from April 11, as Full Fibre carry out the rural fibre installation works.

The road will be closed between Far View and Tan Bridge with traffic diverted via the B4355 to Kington, onto the A44 via Pembridge and the A41100 to Mortimers Cross, and vice versa.

In a public notice published by Herefordshire Council, it said the closure was needed due to rural fibre installation works and the likelihood of danger to the public while the works are taking place.

Standard broadband is delivered over copper wire.

Fibre broadband is different because it uses faster and more reliable fibre-optic cables.
