A GRIEVOUS bodily harm-accused man has been sent to the crown court.
Tony Carty appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March accused of one count of engaging in coercive or controlling behaviour, one count of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, and one count of assaulting a person occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 35-year-old is accused of engaging in coercive or controlling behaviour by repeatedly making malicious and abusive calls and leaving numerous malicious and abusive messages to a woman, which had a serious effect on her, in Hereford between February 1, 2019, and December 1, 2021.

He is also accused of assaulting the same woman, inflicting grievous bodily harm, in Hereford between January 1, 2020, and December 12, 2021, and assaulting her, causing actual bodily harm, in Hereford between January 1, 2019, and June 24, 2020.
The case was sent to the crown court and Carty, of Court Farm Road, Erdington, Birmingham, was released on unconditional bail.
He will appear before Worcester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on April 12.
