A MAN has been up before the magistrates after he was caught in charge of a car while over the limit in a Hereford Travelodge car park.

Benjamin Callow entered a guilty plea to one count of being in charge of a vehicle while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford for trial in March after entering a not guilty plea at an earlier hearing.

Hereford Times:

The court heard from prosecutor Paul John that the 34-year-old had been in charge of a silver Rover Streetwise while over the alcohol limit in the car park of Hereford's Grafton Travelodge on November 15.

An evidential breath test revealed that Callow had 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, almost twice the limit of 35 microgrammes.

Callow, of Barrie Road in Hereford, was handed 10 penalty points and fined £224 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when deciding on the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £90 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
