FLOOD alerts remain in force across Herefordshire this morning as river levels rise.

The Environment Agency has issued alerts for the rivers Wye, Arrow, Frome, and Lugg.

River Wye

River levels have risen at the Hay-On-Wye, Bredwardine and Old Wye Bridge river gauges as a result of heavy rainfall.

Flooding is expected to continue and to affect low lying land & roads along the Wye from Hay-on-Wye to Ross-on-Wye. Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine, and Hereford.

  • Ross-on-Wye: 3.10m to 3.60m on Wednesday morning.

River Arrow

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Titley Mill river gauge.

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads along the Arrow from Michaelchurch to Brierley. Other areas that may be affected include Kington, Staunton and Eardisland. 

River Frome

River levels are forecast to rise at the Bishops Frome river gauge.

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads along the River Frome from Bromyard to Hereford. Other locations that may be affected include Bishops Frome and Yarkhill.

River Lugg south of Leominster

River levels have risen at the Lugwardine river gauge.

Flooding is expected to continue and to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other locations that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop.
