A NEW food shop will be opening in Herefordshire this summer, with the boss saying he will cater for barbecue enthusiasts and foodies alike.

Chef Hugh Sawyer has spent the last six years living outside and cooking over fires, something he said is a passion more than a business.

His new venture will be the Fork and Chicken, a new speciality shop in Kington.

Mr Sawyer, 50, said the Fork and Chicken will specialise in providing customers with an exceptional selection of top-quality meats, vegetarian dishes, rubs, sauces, and other barbecue essentials, all designed to help them create amazing barbecue meals in the comfort of their own homes.

Mr Sawyer, who has a smokehouse in Clifford, near Hay-on-Wye, also said the shop will offer a wide range of smoked meats, including succulent ribs, delicious duck breast, and mouth-watering pastrami and salt beef.

OTHER NEWS:

"Additionally, we will also offer a variety of kebab skewers, iberico ribs, suckling pig joints and Wagyu brisket, among other meaty treats," he said.

"We will have plenty of delicious options for vegetarians as well as side dishes, salads and puddings."

He said the shop would open in the summer of 2023, but couldn't give an exact date.
