IT'S World Book Day today and we're really looking forward to seeing pictures of local children dressed as their favourite characters from literature!

All you have to do is click on the blue button at the bottom of this report and we'll upload your pictures straight to the Hereford Times website today. We'll also publish as many as we can in print in next week's paper.

Your World Book Day pictures are already coming in and are at the bottom of this report now.

School in particular are big supporters of the event.

Hereford Times:

Children at Ivington CE Primary and Pre-school, near Leominster; St Thomas Cantilupe, Hereford, and Bridstow CE Primary School, near Ross-on-Wye are celebrating thanks to a donation of 30 new books for their library from the Morrisons Foundation.

The foundation has partnered with the National Literacy Trust to donate 5,500 books to help inspire and nurture a love of reading for more than 100,000 primary school children.

Alice James, community champion at the Leominster branch, Anne-Marie Powell from the Hereford branch, and Naomi Haggett from the Ross-on-Wye branch have donated the books to the schools saying: “We are delighted that through the partnership between the Morrisons Foundation and the National Literacy Trust we’re able to provide these wonderful books.

World Book Day is a charity that promotes reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the chance to have a book of their own.

It says reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income.

She sadly didn’t make it to school to wear it as she fell unwell and spent the day in a&e!
