A HEREFORDSHIRE dental surgery has been given a clean bill of health in its latest Care Quality Commission inspection.

Inspectors visited Acacia Dental Practice in Bromyard's Hatton Park in February for an announced comprehensive inspection, finding it to be safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

Key findings in the report were that the dental clinic appeared clean and well-maintained with infection control procedures which reflected published guidance, while staff knew how to deal with medical emergencies.

Appropriate medicines and life-saving equipment were available, while the practice had systems to manage risks for patients, staff, equipment and the premises, and safeguarding processes were in place and staff knew their responsibilities for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.

Inspectors said staff recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, while care was carried out in line with guidelines, and patients were treated with dignity and respect by staff who took care to protect patients’ privacy and personal information.

Staff provided preventive care and supported patients to ensure better oral health, while the appointment system worked efficiently to respond to patients’ needs, and the frequency of appointments was agreed between the dentist and the patient.

The CQC found that there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement at the practice, with staff reporting that they felt involved, supported, and worked as a team, and both staff and patients asked for service feedback.

Complaints were dealt with positively and efficiently, and the practice had appropriate information governance arrangements.
