ONE of the first sports stars to talk openly about hair loss this week called into a Hereford charity that knows a lot about wigs.

Graham Gooch, the former England cricket team captain, was in Herefordshire to speak at the Rankin Club but stopped off at The Little Princess Trust before he made it to Leominster.

Wendy Tarplee-Morris, the Founder of the children’s charity, told Mr Gooch how the wigs are made and provided to young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other conditions such as Alopecia.

Mr Gooch, who famously worked with a hair loss clinic and also spoke openly about the experience of hair loss with the late cricketer Shane Warne, was impressed to hear that the charity has now provided more than 14,000 wigs to children and young people.

Tim Lowe, a Trustee at The Little Princess Trust, invited Mr Gooch and his partner Julia to see the charity’s headquarters before they attended the Rankin Club.

Mr Gooch had promised to attend the evening organised by the Herefordshire Cricket Society and the Rankin Club in memory of his late friend, Frank Keating.

Mr Keating, a former Guardian and Hereford Times journalist, lived in Marden and was good friends with Mr Gooch, having covered England’s Test matches across the globe.
