A HEREFORDSHIRE man has been fined hundreds of pounds by magistrates after he was caught out behind the wheel of a car without a licence or insurance.

Rory John James was proven guilty of one charge of driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and one charge of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance by magistrates in Worcester.

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 29-year-old had been caught after getting behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Insignia in Ross-on-Wye's Wilton Road on September 2.

Hereford Times:

James did not have a licence authorising him to drive a vehicle of that class and did not have a valid insurance policy in place, the court was told.

James, who is of Old Tannery Way, Ross-on-Wye, was fined £220 for the first offence and £660 for the second, a total of £880.

He was also handed six penalty points and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £90 and a £352 victim surcharge.
