BIG-hearted readers of the Hereford Times brought the magic of Christmas to families across Herefordshire.

They responded magnificently to our 2022 Christmas Appeal – in partnership with Christian charity Vennture – raising almost £2,500 within days of the campaign’s close.

The money went to Hereford charity Vennture so volunteers could despatch festive parcels to those who would otherwise struggle to have the fresh foods and treats most of us are able to enjoy at this time of year.

OTHER NEWS:

The charity’s chief executive Rob Thomas thanked readers for their support.

Vennture, based in Vicarage Road, is a Christian charity dedicated to helping individuals, families and young people help themselves.

Its latest project entails turning the city's Merton Hotel in Commercial Road into a secure place for rough sleepers and those in need, where they can seek advice and guidance to other services.

Parcels were distributed through volunteers with whom the charity is already working.

Hereford Times: Hereford Times Christmas Appeal 2022

Hereford Times editor John Wilson said: “At a time when so many people are facing financial challenges of their own it has been humbling to see such a generous response to our Christmas appeal (sign up for a free newsletter from the editor every week).

"Every single donation has made a difference to a local family. Without this help they would have faced a Christmas without fresh food on the table.

"Those who contributed to our appeal have brought happiness where there would have been despair, and I thank them all for their generosity."
