A BANNED driver was caught driving a Transit van in Herefordshire while over the limit.

Lee Davies entered a guilty plea to one charge of driving a motor vehicle while over the alcohol limit and one charge of driving while disqualified when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in December.

The court heard from prosecutor Eleanor Peart that the 34-year-old had been caught behind the wheel of a grey Ford Transit van in Ledbury's Biddulph Way while over the drink-drive limit on December 3.

An evidential breath test revealed that he had 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal driving limit is 35 microgrammes.

He had also been driving the van while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence, the court heard.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out by the probation service and for medical evidence to be presented to the court by the defence.

Davies, who is of Biddulph Way, Ledbury, will appear before Hereford magistrates next for sentencing on January 19.
